- Not to mention Godzilla got his fame FROM movies and "pop media" while Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster were both made well known by books. It's like asking why Jane Eyre isn't "famous" even though she's had several movies and comics made about her even after she received her notoriety from a book. Pop culture has a different sort of affect than literature (though as proven by Harry Potter or even Universal Monsters there can be a cross over).-
Half the fun of making a unique original character is developing the established canon. Like both ~CelebiObsession and =Candy2021 both came up with the idea that the Lochness Monster was a "high end" famous monster- or monster family after they both met and became friends- like the Kardashians or the Hiltons, one of those families who are famous simply for their socialite status. They both came this conclusion by real world situations that surround the Lochness Monster. Getting a photo of the creature is extremely difficult and extremely sought after, kinda like how the paparazzi is constantly trying to get pictures of celebrities. So both creators came to the conclusion that their characters are part of a "famous" socialite family.
Godzilla wasn't in a movie, he is THE premier kaiju in the film genre pioneered by the Japanese, he's a literal movie star in the old sense. There are nearly 30 Japanese films with Godzilla as the feature spanning from 1954 to 2004, and it's still going. There have been three American films (Godric's mother) the first one came out in 1956 and the newest one is scheduled for a 2014 release. Movies that have won dozens of awards and recognition.
Godzilla has his own comic book series, dozens of video games, cartoon series and live action television series spanning from 1973 to 1998. He's been sung about by the Blue Öyster Cult, Lostprophets, Groovie Ghoulies, Doctor Steel, The Creatures, Label Shifty, Sepultura, and King Ghedorah (aka MF DOOM). Godzilla is an icon in Japan and around the world. His name and image are almost instantly recognizable by any pop-culture, sci-fy, or fantasy buff. All of the above is what made me come up with the idea that in Monster High Canon this fame and notoriety would carry over and Godric would be a the pompous child of the world renowned super star Actor Godzilla.
So the that's the long answer. The short answer is because I hadn't seen it done prior in Monster High OCs and I thought it would be an interesting and original concept to RP with/introduce.
No where is canon is it started that any of their parents are movie stars, or even famous. Frankie's, Draculaura's, and Cleo's parents are well known throughout the monster community though for different reasons.
Also, Clawdeen's bio says "Werewolf" because I'm presure "Wolf-Man" is a copyright or trademark that belongs to Universal Studios. Same way Lagoona is "sea monster" even though it's heavily implied she was inspired by "The Creature of the Black Lagoon" and Venus as "Plant Monster" even though- again- we the audience are supposed to take it that she was inspired by the characters of "Little Shop of Horrors". So again, none of their parents, in the established canon of the Monster High Universe, are movie stars.
And even if they were it still doesn't negate everything else I mentioned as to why I decided to make that choice.
